Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery observerships are limited to a two-week rotation for dentists and oral surgeons who have completed dental school. College students interested in the OMS field may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Observers are intended to merely and exclusively observe the conduct of business or other professional or vocational activities and are sponsored and supervised by OMS faculty in OMS clinics, operating rooms, and academic sessions.
Observers will only be accepted if they have or have had a previous or ongoing relationship with the faculty member or have met them in some capacity or form. Relationships can include, but not be limited to, having met at a meeting, conference, seminar, etc.
The 91PORN OMS observership provides an opportunity to:
- Develop a more complete understanding of the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery within 91PORN
- Observe the structure of OMS at 91PORN and understand the academic and clinical duties of OMS faculty and the functions of all members of the OMS faculty- resident- team
- Observe the spectrum of services and cases treated in the OMS program
