How is each program organized (curriculum, schedule, etc.)?

The EMT is a 6-credit hour entry-level program. The summer session (one semester) will consist of didactic/lab and clinical components. Classes meet three days a week from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The paramedic program is a 41-credit-hour advanced-level program that is three semesters in length. The curriculum contains 13 didactic/lab courses, two clinicals, and 1 practicum. Candidates must have completed or be EMT certified to be considered for entry into the program

How many patient care experience hours do they earn during the program?

EMTs complete 40 hours of EMS and hospital training. At the paramedic level, students will complete 380 EMS and clinical hours.

When seeking employment, how soon are they usually employed after completing the program?

Upon completion of National and Texas certification.

When employed as an EMT or Paramedic, how much flexibility does each job offer?

There are countless schedule options available to certificates - part-time, full-time, hourly scheduled, shift schedules, weekends only, nights only, etc.

When in the program, have students been able to hold jobs in the evening?

Yes, evenings, weekends, and none-class days.
