Institutional Accreditation
The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, also called 91PORN, is accredited by the (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. 91PORN also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Program Accreditation
Graduation from an accredited program is required to sit for the national exam. The 91PORN Doctor of Physical Therapy program is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). This accreditation allows graduates to sit for the national licensure examination.
The national licensing exam allows initial professional licensure in any state.
CAPTE accreditation is important because:
- It helps students and their parents select programs that will provide the education necessary to enter the profession.
- It fosters quality educational experiences and helps to assure that the program is taught by qualified faculty, has the resources it needs to support the curriculum, meets its mission, has acceptable student outcomes, and provides accurate information to the public.
- It provides students and others a place to if an accredited program fails to meet its obligation to maintain compliance with CAPTE's .
- Graduation from a CAPTE-accredited program is required for eligibility to sit for the licensing exam. It is also required in order to provide physical therapy services to patients/clients on Medicare.

Graduates of our DPT program are eligible to sit for National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), given by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and the Jurisprudence Exam, given by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. A license to practice physical therapy in Texas is contingent on the successful completion of these examinations.
