The Council for Excellence in Women’s Health
The Council for Excellence in Women’s Health was formed in 2007. It’s mission is to improve the physical and mental health of women in San Antonio by building awareness of women’s health challenges, and to promote a greater understanding of and initiate philanthropic support for the Health Science Center’s women’s health programs and initiatives. The council membership, currently comprised of 86 influential women leaders who live and work throughout San Antonio and South Texas, continues to grow.
Eligibility:
All Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences doctoral students conducting research related to women’s health and demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA application
Criteria:
Must demonstrate academic excellence and cover letter, one-page letter of recommendation from the COGS chair, and one-page letter of recommendation from the supervising professor.

Eligibility:
All doctoral or masters students who demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA application and are Texas residents
Criteria:
Must demonstrate academic excellence and submit transcripts, CV and letters of recommendation from supervising professor, COGS chair and one additional faculty mentor.

Greg Treibs Memorial Scholarship Fund
Eligibility:
All GSBS doctoral or master's students with preference given to students from Gillespie County, TX and then students who attended Texas A&M University

Joe A. Bass Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility:
Students enrolled in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
Criteria:
Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete the school’s scholarship application. Additional criteria may be used at the discretion of the school and will be made available upon request.

Phyllis & Neil Bowie Student Community Service Award
The award is named for E. Phyllis Bowie, Ph.D., and her husband, Neil. Dr. Bowie, associate professor of cellular and structural biology, retired in 2003 after 34 years on the 91PORN faculty.
Throughout her outstanding career, Dr. Bowie served as a mentor to many students and faculty members. Since 1993 she directed the Dental Gross Anatomy Course and co-directed the Dental Hygiene Structures of the Head and Neck Course. Dr. Bowie earned the admiration of her colleagues, students and community leaders. She received numerous awards and honors, including the Presidential Teaching Excellence Award in 1995.
Eligibility:
All Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences third year or above doctoral students
Criteria:
Must demonstrate community service through volunteer activities in San Antonio and prepare a written description of community activities plus a transcript, CV and letters of recommendation from supervising professor.
