Vasan S. Ramachandran, MD presents at American Heart Association's 2023 Scientific Sessions
Vasan Ramachandran, MD, FAHA, was selected to present the Robert Levy Memorial Lecture by the American Heart Association’s Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health. Dr. Ramachandran received the award at the organization’s following the presentation, which was one of a series of lectures from some of today’s foremost clinicians and researchers as well as those with a lifetime of contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease. The presentation was entitled, "Cardiovascular Health Disparities in Rural United States: Causes and Solutions," and brought insight into discoveries made by the .
The lectureship was established in 2001, in memory of Dr. Robert I. Levy whose distinguished career is highlighted by numerous prominent appointments, such as Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Vice President for Health Sciences at Tufts University, Vice President for Health Sciences at Columbia University, President of Sandoz Research Institute and President of Wyeth-Ayerst Research. Dr. Levy graduated with highest honors from Cornell University and cum laude from Yale University School of Medicine. His connection to the American Heart Association dates back to the early 1970s as a member of the Executive Committee of the AHA Council on Basic Science and extends to the mid-1990s as Chairman of the AHA Pharmaceutical Roundtable.
