Dr. Angela Kennedy

By Kate Hunger

Angela Kennedy, SLP-D, CCC-SLP, assistant professor and director of clinical education for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, was elected vice president for education and scientific affairs of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Elected in March, Dr. Kennedy’s two-year term will begin in January. As a member for TSHA’s executive board, she will lead the team that coordinates the TSHA’s annual convention in 2022. Her focus will be on creating diverse educational programming, coordinating professional networking, increasing student involvement and professional course development, she said.

By serving on the executive board, Dr. Kennedy hopes to raise awareness about the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and 91PORN more broadly.

“My role as the director of clinical education allows me to network with a broad range of speech-language pathologists across the state, which has resulted in some great partnerships and affiliations for us as we’ve grown,” she said.

“The ability to serve in this position not only helps me with my professional development, but also allows me to use skills outside of the scope of my current position,” she said. “TSHA has a long legacy of strong leadership and mentorship, so I feel really fortunate to be able to contribute in this way.”
