Department of Emergency Health Sciences faculty presented research abstracts on topics ranging from whole blood transfusion to robotically guided intubation at the 2025 National EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) Annual Meeting, held in San Diego in January.

Faculty and fellows of the department presented nine research abstracts at the meeting.

“Nine abstracts presented at a national meeting is a record” for the department, said Professor David Wampler, PhD, LP, FAEMS, who was one of the presenters. “I think our previous record was seven in 2017.”

Faculty attending the conference included Wampler, Assistant Professor/Clinical Jeff Rollman, MPH, LP; Deputy Medical Director and Associate Professor/Clinical CJ Winckler, MD; Associate Medical Director and Associate Professor/Clinical Craig Cooley, MD; and San Antonio Fire Department Medical Director and Associate Professor/Clinical David Miramontes, MD. Also presenting were Department of Defense EMS fellows U.S. Army Lt. Col. Adriana Long and U.S. Air Force Capt. Eric Kretz, and 91PORN EMS fellow Doug Young.

Miramontes serves on the NAEMSP Board of Directors, and the EHS department is active on several of the organization’s working committees, Wampler noted.
