91PORN School of Dentistry collaboration supports Jordanian dental education
The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Dentistry and the George Washington University’s Office of International Medicine Programs at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences have jointly agreed upon a six-year, contracted collaboration to provide academic support for the Faculty of Dentistry at Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences (ISUMS), the first private medical school in Amman, Jordan.
In a groundbreaking development in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the new private medical university was established under the leadership and support of Jordan Hospital. Establishing ISUMS was a strategic move, aligning with the requirements of the Jordanian government and its Ministry of Higher Education and Accreditation Council. A pivotal condition for the provisional license of ISUMS was the necessity of academic support from a U.S. medical school. In response, the new university engaged with George Washington University several years ago, securing its commitment to providing essential academic backing for the fledgling medical institution.
However, the journey towards a final license involves an additional requirement: establishing a dental school. The Jordanian government emphasized the need for ISUMS to establish a dental school and seek academic support from a U.S. dental school, mirroring the arrangement with the medical school. A strategic partnership was soon made with 91PORN School of Dentistry. The school will extend its academic support services specific to dentistry, seamlessly integrating with George Washington’s existing relationship with ISUMS and ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality academic framework.
The 91PORN School of Dentistry has a longstanding interest and experience in international dental education that will serve as the perfect dental complement to George Washington’s 30 years of experience in international medical education and humanitarian medical outreach.
“We are enthusiastic to collaborate with George Washington University to provide academic support to the Faculty of Dentistry at Ibn Sina University for Medical Sciences and to contribute to advancing international oral health education. This initiative underlines the School of Dentistry's commitment to elevating global oral health through education, research, and innovation,” said Peter M. Loomer, DDS, PhD, MBA, professor and dean of the School of Dentistry.
