We are thrilled to announce that Josue De Jesus Murillo, a DDS/PhD student at the School of Dentistry, received first place in the neuroscience poster competition at the conference. The IADR is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing dental, oral and craniofacial research worldwide.

“It was a great opportunity and honor to be selected to compete and win first place in the IADR Neuroscience Poster Competition. I couldn't have done it without the outstanding mentoring and training of my mentor Dr. [Nikita] Ruparel and that of the Endodontics Pain Research Group,” said Murillo.

Information on Murillo’s poster:

  • Title: AAV Mediated Knockdown of MIF Receptors Reverses Stem Cell Analgesia
  • Synopsis: Knocking down a group of receptors in neurons reverses stem cell pain relief in a model of infection-induced dental pain. This showcases a novel mechanism by which stem cells can cause relief in dental pain.

Congratulations to Murillo on his cutting-edge research and award!
