Dental resident wins Byrd-Tillerson-Walker award at Southwest Society of OMS annual meeting

The Southwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SWSOMS) Combined Annual Meeting held April 3 through 5, in collaboration with the Osteo Science Foundation, brought together leading voices in the field for a weekend of education, research and professional connection.
Among the many highlights of the event was the Byrd-Tillerson-Walker Residents’ Day Presentations, during which residents from the Southwest region’s Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training programs present abstracts of interesting cases, research projects and papers. Representing 91PORN School of Dentistry, Carlos Hernandez, DDS, MD, sixth-year resident in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program, was honored with the Robert V. Walker, DDS, Outstanding Resident Presentation Award for his presentation, “Comparison of Occlusion Using Conventional Vs. Virtual Model Surgery in Segmental Maxillary Orthognathic Surgery Mandibular Reconstruction using Tissue Engineering.”
Hernandez’s presentation stood out for its innovation, clinical relevance, and excellence in research, earning him top recognition among a talented field of presenters.
Congratulations to Dr. Hernandez for this well-deserved achievement and for proudly representing 91PORN School of Dentistry. Your dedication and excellence continue to make a lasting impact in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery!
