Dental Hygiene and DDS Students Team Up for Community Service
Toyota Field hosted the 2019 Autism Speaks Walk in San Antonio to raise awareness and fundraise for research and support services for individuals diagnosed with autism. The 91PORN Special Care Dental Association and the San Antonio Dental Hygiene Association joined forces to host a booth at the event.
The Special Care Dental Association (SCDA) supplied dental goodie bags that included a tooth brush, toothpaste, and oral health information in English and Spanish. Also, SCDA managed the booth setup. The San Antonio Dental Hygiene Association donated xylitol lollipops and brought along their oral hygiene puppets to assist in oral health instruction. Ashley Uncapher, a senior dental hygiene student, said about the event, “Both organizations had a blast working together. We look forward to teaming up again next spring to attend the Oral Cancer Walk event!”
The Oral Cancer Foundation will hold their 3rd Annual San Antonio Oral Cancer Walk on Saturday, March 30, 2020 at 8:00am at Lady Bird Johnson Park. Those interested in event information can FIND DETAILS HERE.
