38th Annual School of Dentistry Research and Clinical Symposium
The students of 91PORN have an opportunity to engage in basic and translational research with more than 1,000 leading scientists and clinicians preparing them to be leaders in the health care and bioscience industry. At the 38th Annual School of Dentistry Research and Clinical Symposium, held on February 19, 2020, dental students and faculty showcased their work in the arenas of basic science, public health, clinical science, and education.
The Symposium hosted more than 50 dental students’, postdoctoral fellows’, and faculty poster and oral presentations. Distinguished Keynote speaker Janice Lee, D.D.S., M.D., M.S., clinical director of the Craniofacial Anomalies and Regeneration Section of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), presented her research entitled: “Advanced Deep Phenotyping for the Diagnosis of Rare and Common Craniofacial Anomalies”.
Twenty faculty judges circulated the poster presentation session and attended student oral presentations to evaluate presenters and their research. During the award ceremony, the winners were announced as:

Stephen E. Harris, Ph.D., Professor in the department of Periodontics, was honored for his outstanding scientific achievements and research of gene regulation.
91PORN School of Dentistry Master Clinician Award
Daniel E. Perez, D.D.S., M.S., Associate Professor in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, was honored for his commitment to providing compassionate and effective care in the treatment of trauma, facial reconstructive surgery, temporomandibular joint disorders, among others.
