Post-Doctoral Research Program

Research opportunities are available for post-doctoral fellowship training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The focus of the program is to provide advanced research training at the post-doctoral level. Initial appointment would be for one year with the possibility for renewal up to 3 years. The objective of this comprehensive training program is to provide fellows with the skill sets to pursue a productive research career related to oral or craniofacial health. The fellow may participate in advanced courses in the Health Science Center’s Clinical Investigation Program and research related to dental craniofacial oral science in multidisciplinary areas such as: pain, biochemistry, bioinformatic/genomes/transgenics, pharmacology, immunology, wound healing, dental materials, implants, tooth movement, or microbiology. In addition, the fellow will participate in journal clubs, seminar presentations, and a grantsmanship course. The salary support is commensurate with the level of postdoctoral training.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of a research proposal prepared with the assistance of a mentor and their potential to pursue a career in academic dental related research.

Minimum Requirements:
DDS, PhD, MD or equivalent degrees and US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
